Significant places include Chapel Hill Historic District, Nash-Hooper House, Old East, University of North Carolina, Old Orange County Courthouse and Playmakers Theatre.

Many famous people are associated with these Orange County historic places including William Hooper, A.H. Graham, Alfred Moore, Graham, John Washington, et al., Frederick Nash and Graham. William Alexander.
