Significant places include Cheat Summit Fort, Davis and Elkins Historic District, Rich Mountain Battlefield, Tygart Valley Homesteads Historic District and Beverly Historic District.

Many famous people are associated with these Randolph County historic places including Eleanor Roosevelt, Gen. George B. McClellan, Sen. Stephen Benton Elkins, John Baylis Ward, Sen. Henry Gassaway Davis and Gov. Guy H. Kump.
